I Can’t Breathe
Like the Coronavirus, God has sent another wake-up call, the question is will the American church receive that call.
There should be heard a loud ringing, like an annoyingly loud alarm bell going off in America’s churches today, and the sound was the cry of George Floyd, “I can’t breathe!”
It is the same sound that the churches should now hear internally, “I CAN’T BREATHE!”
It is not the sound from their organs, nor in their choirs. It is not the sound of their pastors from their pulpits; it is not the sound from their congregations.
It’s the sound of the voice of the Spirit of Almighty God!
God, it seems, has been suffocated by the church, predominantly the loudest faction of the American church, “the White Evangelicals,” and the knee they have placed on the neck of God through their continued support of the American Republican political party and its principles of racist tones, law and order attitudes, pro-gun, pro war, pro wealth, and anti-poor positions it has historically held.
Yes, white evangelicals bare some of the blame of the crisis now facing America with America's long history of racism against American Black, Brown, Latino, Mexican, Asian, and other minorities.
White evangelicals have by and large supported the American Republican Party which is a political institution that has predominantly been run by many old white men who have repeatedly by their legislation were found to favor the wealthy class while discriminating against the poor.
The Republican Party has consistently warred on Welfare and like programs to help the poor, needy, and the less fortunate, particularly those of the black and minority communities.
The Republican Party has consistently been the party of law and order, very pro-police, and has funded programs over the years that have only militarized the police forces nationwide.
The Republican Party is the party of the National Rifle Association which dictates the policy for America's gun laws.
The Republican Party is the party of largely pro-war faction, pushing its wars in the Middle East.
It is the party of the anti-abortion or “pro–life” movements where a carrot is waved every election in front of the evangelicals to entice them to vote for their party as the political party that cares about “the life of the unborn.”
The Republican Party policies show they are in reality not pro-life at all, for they do not seem to care for the life once the fetus is born. They have no problem sending the poor off to their wars; they have no problem cutting food stamp programs for the poor and less fortunate; they have no qualms about opposing any restrictions or regulations on guns when Americans, in particular minority communities die more from gun homicides, 10 times more likely than whites.
They have no problem passing legislation which vastly effect the black community and other minorities by their laws and legislation on policing, prisons, and draconian anti-drug laws.
The Republican Party is the party that doesn’t raise taxes, but gives tax cuts to the rich and wealthy, while cutting many programs that feed the poor, help the less fortunate children of black and brown communities.
The Republican Party has been trying by all means necessary to keep blacks and minorities from having a fair stake at the ballot box passing laws that require more than one form of ID to vote.
In the Eighties under Ronald Reagan white evangelicals have supported in large number allegiance to the Republican Party with movements like “the Moral Majority” and so named “Christian” lobby groups and political organizations which support the Republican Party witnessed year after year in “National Day of Prayer” meetings at the White House and private parties with Republican politicians.
White evangelicals support indirectly the racist toned policies of the Republican Party and they share blame and in part the same shame, of contributing to the problem now America finds its self in, in this crisis.
White evangelicals supported Ronald Reagan to power. Under Reagan grew the worst inequality by his programs benefiting the wealthy and rich while cutting aid to the poor. It was under Reagan’s "war on drugs" that incarcerated millions of blacks for long periods of time for lesser drug offences.
White evangelicals supported both Bushes, both administrations were pro-war, pro-gun, pro-wealth, pro-police, and created more inequality and cut programs for the poor and minorities.
White evangelicals some 80% supported Donald J. Trump to power and a man who like his predecessors claim to be “a Republican” but also a “Christian,” promising anti-abortion stance Supreme Court Justices, and to bring back “Merry Christmas” and Christian values.
Trump has acted anything but a Christian President, the man who claims he is Christian, is caught in lies every day to the American people.
He cheated on his wife with a porn star, and then paid the porn star off to hush her up.
Trump had also an affair with a Playboy playmate.
Trump proudly exposed his wife of his third marriage, fully nude, during his election campaign, while he viciously attacked his political opponents, all the while being accused by more than 20 women of sexual assault or harassment while bragging about wanting to have sex with a married woman on the Hollywood Access video tape. All of this happened before he was elected president.
As president, Trump and his Republican administration has sought to cut not only Obama Care health care, but Medicaid programs and Welfare programs as food stamps for the poor, the fatherless, and needy.
Trump boasted about bringing in "law and order" and only recently used military police to push away peaceful protesters protesting the murder of George Floyd in Washington D.C. with tear gas, batons, and police on horseback, all so he and his administration team could march down to a local church and pose, as a photo-op, holding a bible in his hand (as if it was a foreign object) as he looked angrily at the media cameras.
Trump did not open the bible to read a verse of scripture from the holy bible, nor did he say any words about George Floyd’s tragic murder.
You know, the Devil can even quote scripture.
The Devil even knows there is one God.
The Devil knows he is not God.
The Devil knows his day is coming to an end.
These are four things Donald Trump has not a clue of.
Apparently, neither do his supporters of the white evangelicals who overwhelmingly put Donald Trump (a wolf in sheep’s clothing) into the White House.
As president, Trump has not been a true leader on the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Now more than 109,000 have died in America under his watch. Trump has done nothing about speaking up on the crisis with police brutality on black men and women, and the death of George Floyd and others.
Trump instead has called for the U.S. military to police the American protesters, and he has spoken violent and divisive language, he has not brought Americans together in this time of pain, hurt, anger, and crisis.
This is the man white evangelicals overwhelmingly voted for!
It’s no wonder the Spirit of Christ is now gasping, "I CAN’T BREATHE!"
Wake up white evangelicals!
You are supposed to be ambassadors for Jesus the Christ, not political lobbying groups on abortion and your continual hypocrisy of support for a political party such as the racist, wealthy, pro-gun, pro-war Republican Party.
You are supposed to preach Christ, not abortion, not marriage, not Israel or Israeli Zionist politics, not wars in the Middle East, not revival in the land, not the rapture!
You are supposed to be bringing people, souls, to Jesus Christ by preaching the Gospel of Jesus!
What message does it send to a lost world of souls who don’t know the truth of the love of Jesus Christ or his amazing gift of salvation, if you support a political party which is headed by a man who divides; who is a racist xenophobe; who is a sexist misogynist; who defames and slanders people daily; whose legislation has put Mexican children removed from their parents in cages; a man who cannot condemn white nationalism as racist, yet condemns the FBI; a man supports strongmen and dictators around the world; and a man whose party is a party of policies that hurt the poor, the fatherless, the stranger, the less fortunate?
What message does that send to the world?
It’s time the American white evangelicals removed the pressure off of Christ’s neck and a knee they have put there by their blind support of the U.S. Republican Party.
White evangelicals should hear the huge wakeup call with this latest nationwide crisis that has come to a head with the death of George Floyd.
George Floyd, a man who loved Jesus Christ, and once a sinner who found God, only wanted to share the Gospel to free others like himself.
He is a man just like you "evangelicals."
Listen to his words.
They are the very words of the Spirit of God.
They are the words of Jesus, the Christ.
“I can’t breathe!”
Matthew 7: 22-23
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Mathew 25:31-45
When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
