The Sabbath —through the Seventh Month

The following study is a look at determining the events leading up to the seventh Hebrew month. The Seventh Hebrew Month is a most holy time for the children of Israel, and this month and its holy services, and holy days, constitutes a climax of the year for the children of Israel.

While the Hebrews certainly had 12 month year (and ONLY 12 months Biblically— there was never such a thing as the rabbinical imposed "leap" month) the Seventh month was the completion of God's holy services for the the year.

Understanding the times, and events, and holy days, can also shed more light to understanding the sabbath in relation to the time during each of these days and month leading up to the seventh month.

This Bible study will attempt to focus on the times mentioned in the Bible; looking closely at what transpired at those times leading up to the seventh Hebrew month and how this involved the sabbaths of YHWH.

This Study will also be the first in a series of articles to use part of the Literal Translation Bible Version; if for no other reason than to introduce you to this amazing Bible translation and compare it to the king James, which is the mainly used translation by this website.

I fully understand that the King James is not the most perfect translation (as no translation is perfect). Having said that it is still one of the best or rather more accurately rendered from the original tongues of the Greek and Hebrew texts of the Holy Bible. Please I beg of you (for you own salvation sake), Do not use a NIV or Message Bible and expect to understand the Hebrew and Greek inspired Word, the Holy Bible.

Please also note that in the Literal Translation Bible Version (LITV), the author J.P Green Sr. used the words " JEHOVAH" in place of "the LORD."

It is the preference for this website, in the same persuasion, to use the sacred names of GOD which were clearly found over 5000 times in the Holy Hebrew ( and as well Greek New Testament) where the Name of GOD would at times be written in Aramaic for the words "the LORD" or " the Lord" "(in New Testament) as it is rendered in the English versions of our Bibles today. In all these cases, the four Hebrew letters were used , here transliterated as " JHVH" or " YHWH" likely pronounced as Jah-Veh or Yah -Weh.

Since the J came first in the English language's history and j was used for "Jacob" with English J sound instead of Y as in " Yacov" — as it might be pronounced in the Hebrew or the pre- English Saxon/ German— JP Green Sr. felt it unnecessary to make the change to the Y usage.

The fact is as Green correctly partly points out that "JEHOVAH" is an English mispronunciation of the name based on the vowels "a," "o," "e," of the word "Adone," meaning "Lord" as used by the the Jewish rabbinical, or more appropriately, Pharisaical/ Talmudic traditions.

Today Talmudic legalism has completely replaced ( the laws of YHWH) the very existence of any use of the four letter Holy name of YHWH (YAHWEH).

Henceforth in this study any Scriptures in the JP Green Sr. Translation of the Literal Bible (LITV) will appear unedited the word " Jehovah," but in the King James version (KJV) the words "the LORD" have been replaced with the sacred name transliterated into English of the four letters of YHWH.

Beginning this study, you will start off from the day in which the children of Israel received the law at Mt Sinai.

The purpose of this study is not be a line by line reading of the laws or statutes in the law (as extremely important to learn and know as they are) rather it is primarily concerned with time and events what took place as it relates to the Sabbath.

The setting you'll start with is with Moses, whom has just received the law along with children of Israel — the ten commandments which all the children of Israel were given— and now Moses is about to go up to meet God in the mountain.

Exodus 20:18-21 (KJV)
And all the people saw the thundering, and the lightning's, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. [19] And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. [20] And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. [21] And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

The time period that Moses and the children of Israel received the law is given to us clearly in the Bible.

Exodus 19:1-6 (KJV)
In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai. [2] For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount. [3] And Moses went up unto God, and YHWH called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; [4] Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself. [5] Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: [6] And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

Exodus 19 (LITV)
1 ¶ In the third month of the going out of the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, on this day they came to the wilderness of Sinai. 2 And they pulled up stakes from Rephidim and came to the wilderness of Sinai. And they camped in the wilderness. And Israel camped there before the mountain. 3 And Moses went up to God. And Jehovah called to him from the mountain, saying, You shall say this to the house of Jacob, and tell it to the sons of Israel. 4 You have seen what I did to Egypt; and I bore you on wings of eagles and brought you to Me. 5 And now if listening you will listen to My voice, and will keep My covenant, you shall become a special treasure to Me above all the nations, for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you shall become a kingdom of priests for Me, a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the sons of Israel.

Both translations show that Israel was finally come to the Mount Sinai, which was in the wilderness of Sinai, on the third Month.

Understand that this would constitute the first day of the third Hebrew month.

If you need to learn more about a Hebrew Month, please read this article to understand how the Hebrews kept a month.

The Word "month" of course in the Hebrew means "new moon." The new moon is a phase of the moon is when a full completion of the lunar phase of the moon has taken place. A lunar phase is anywhere from 29 to 30 days.

The first visible light of the moon was, for the Hebrews, the new moon and signified a new month.

Anyone who has ever watched a last phase of the moon, knows that the moon becomes dark or seem to completely disappear. Therefore it was quite easy to determine a new moon. Since watching the sky was with a doubt was a favorite pastime in a rural desert for many Hebrews, the children of Israel would have seen that the moon was gone on the 28th day of lunar cycle, or lunar month, but reappeared one to two days later. Thus, the new month had begun for the Hebrews.

Understanding this concept first, is a extremely key to unlocking the time period the Scriptures state that "in the third month."

Understand it's not 3 months of 30 days, rather it's 2 months of 29 to 30 days.

I can remember pondering this in church one time when a Pentecostal pastor spoke of this regarding the day of Pentecost being the day Israel at Mt Sinai received the law, and I said to my self, "but 3 months can't equal 50 days, it's 60 days." (both I and the pastor were incorrect in our statements but that is another study)

Wait a minute. The Holy Scriptures give more exact details one must closely examine.

"In the third month of the going out of the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, on this day they came to the wilderness of Sinai."

We don't have 2 full months, rather we begin our time clock from the day which Israel left the land of Egypt.

Israel left on the 14th of the first month. If Israel left on the first day of the first month, that would be day one of the first month and another story.

The children of Israel left on day 14, on the day of the passover.

Of course a holy day was to take place the day after, on the 15th day and no leaven for seven days (technically eight, it began the 14th) bringing to the 21st of the first month.

Remember, as stated before, Israel's Hebrew month was estimated by the light of the moon and the phase. So by the 28th day, the moon had disappeared and one to two days later the new moon.

Thus we have not a full one month, but begin at the passover with less than half of the month as 29 minus 14 equals 15 days

This of course is depending on the length of the lunar phase which would determine when the new moon was first sighted in sky; a 30 day month, which would change your number to 16 days.

In other words it's 15 or 16 days plus one full month (new moon):

16 days plus 29 days equals 45 days

or 16 plus 30 days equals 46 days

or 15 plus 29 equals 44 days

or 15 plus 30 equals 45 days

So one can see that depending on the lunar phase of the moon at the specific time (4000 plus BC) it was either, 44, 45 or 46 days which the the Scriptures are leaving us at this point in Biblical time.

Next YHWH commands Moses to sanctify the children of Israel make ready, for on the third day YHWH will appear before the children of Israel.

Exodus 19:10-11 (KJV)
And YHWH said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes, [11] And be ready against the third day: for the third day YHWH will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

Exodus 19:10-11 (LITV)
10 And Jehovah said to Moses, Go to the people and sanctify them today and tomorrow. And let them wash their clothes. 11 And be ready for the third day. For on the third day Jehovah will go down before the eyes of all the people on the mountain of Sinai.

So it is in the third month, and now, it is the third day that YHWH appears to the children of Israel. This is day three of the third month.

Next, following closely the Scriptures, one learns that Moses after all this goes back up into the mountain. What follows is a six day and on the seventh day Moses goes up to receive the law.

Exodus 24:1-18 (KJV)
And he said unto Moses, Come up unto YHWH, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off. [2] And Moses alone shall come near YHWH: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
[3] And Moses came and told the people all the words of YHWH, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which YHWH hath said will we do. [4] And Moses wrote all the words of YHWH, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. [5] And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto YHWH. [6] And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. [7] And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that YHWH hath said will we do, and be obedient. [8] And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which YHWH hath made with you concerning all these words.
[9] Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: [10] And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness. [11] And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.
[12] And YHWH said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. [13] And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God. [14] And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them. [15] And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount. [16] And the glory of YHWH abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. [17] And the sight of the glory of YHWH was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel. [18] And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.

We're told a great number of clues here. You just read that it was the third day that God appeared to the children of Israel. The scripture here mentions what appears to be a time frame of a few days having passed from the very day that God appears. In this time period, the covenant is made with the children of Israel and Moses, and the elders visit and see GOD and His glory, and have a feast afterward.

But we are told from the Scriptures that Moses is called up to the mountain alone to receive the law, and that this takes place seven days later.

Now depending on how one surmises what the Scriptures are saying, one could read either that the third month began, three days later about mid of week when God appears to the children of Israel. A few days pass by, likely three according the scriptures, which bring us to the seventh day period.

Placeholder Picture

The question is: Is this time period mentioned by the Scripture of Exodus 24:13 "the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud" of the first week (including the third day) or is this the week following the week in which took place the receiving of ten commandments to all the children of Israel meeting God?

Which ever one it is, one next learns that Moses alone went up to the mount and on the seventh day, which is the sabbath of YHWH, Moses is to receive the ten commandments and full law and statutes for the first time.

It then states from this point forward, that Moses remained forty days and forty nights.

(KJV)
Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.

(LITV)
15 And Moses went up into the mountain. And a cloud covered the mountain. 16 And the glory of Jehovah dwelt on the mountain of Sinai. And the cloud covered it six days. And He called to Moses on the seventh day from the midst of the cloud. 17 And the appearance of the glory of Jehovah was like fire burning on the top of the mountain before the eyes of the sons of Israel. 18 And Moses came into the midst of the cloud, and he went up into the mountain. And Moses was in the mountain forty days and forty nights.

It is this author's estimated guess based on the text, that the point which God gave Moses the tablets to begin writing and recording the law, took place the week after, on what would be the fourteenth of the month— exactly the same numbered day as had the passover— being we now have about two weeks bringing one to the second sabbath. Amazingly seems to be when God does his most powerful works—on HIS sabbath.

Placeholder Picture

Realize that the 14th of lunar month will never be anything other than a full moon, and the second sabbath of a month. The passover was on the full moon, and likewise, here, we have the Law of the first covenant given to Moses on the same time frame two months later.

Now if you know that Moses received the law on the second sabbath of the third month, or the 14th day (unless it is the still the first sabbath meaning day 7 of first week and a first quarters moon) all one needs to do is not add 40 days.

So it is the third month and on second sabbath, the 14th day. Again, a Hebrew month can have either 29 to 30 days.

So you must subtract 14 days from a month: 29 -14 = 15 days

Then subtract the remainder from 40 days: 40 - 15 = 25 days

So Moses remains 40 days and 40 nights meaning a full 40 days as each physical day has daytime and nighttime.

This means that Moses stays on the mountain finished off the remaining days of the third month and continues on the mountain almost a full month.

This would mean possibly that after 15 days you would have finished one month. This is assuming a 29 day month. If it was a 30 day month, then you would have a total of 16 days remaining and so 40-16 =24 days.

In either case this brings one to the 24th or 25th day of what is now the fourth Hebrew month when Moses comes down off the mountain— only to discover a disaster unfolding below.

Exodus 32:15-21 (KJV)
And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. [16] And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. [17] And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp. [18] And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear. [19] And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount. [20] And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it. [21] And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?

Exodus 32:15-21 (LITV)
15 ¶ And Moses turned and went down from the mountain, the two tablets of the testimony in his hand, tablets written on their two sides, on this and on that side they were written. 16 And the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God; it was engraved on the tablets. 17 And Joshua heard the voice of the people in their shouting. And he said to Moses, A sound of war in the camp! 18 And he said, It is not a sound of a cry of might, nor a sound of a cry of defeat; I am hearing the sound of singing. 19 And it happened, as he came near to the camp and saw the calf and dances, the anger of Moses glowed. And he threw the tablets from his hands, and he broke them below the mountain. 20 And he took the calf which they had made and burned it with fire and ground it until it was fine, then he scattered it on the face of the water. And he made the sons of Israel to drink it. 21 ¶ And Moses said to Aaron, What has this people done to you that you have made to come on them a great sin?

Note what takes place in time next.

Exodus 32:26-31 (KJV)
Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on YHWH's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him. [27] And he said unto them, Thus saith YHWH God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour. [28] And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men. [29] For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves to day to YHWH, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day. [30] And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto YHWH; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin. [31] And Moses returned unto YHWH, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

Exodus 34:1-3 (KJV)
And YHWH said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest. [2] And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount. [3] And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.

Judging from the scriptures, at the least two days or three days has possibly passed bringing this to about the 27th or the 28th day.

In either case, Moses returned off the mountain about a day before or on the day of the last and fourth sabbath of the fourth month. The last sabbath of a month is always the 28th day, the same day that moon is no longer visible.

Placeholder Picture

This appears to be the same time that YHWH calls Moses back up into the mountain to prepare a second new set of stone tablets.

How appropriate! The 4th sabbath's moon phase is a dark moon !

This is not a very cheerful sabbath! Israel just lost 3,000 people, Moses need to apologize and beg for mercy for the sin of his people, YHWH has to help make a new set of tablets, Moses has another 40 days ahead in the mountain.

Exodus 34:4-5 (KJV)
And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as YHWH had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone. [5] And YHWH descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of YHWH.

Exodus 34 (LITV)
1 ¶ And Jehovah said to Moses, Cut out for yourself two tablets of stone, like the former. And I will write on the tablets the words which were on the former tablet, which you broke. 2 And be prepared in the morning, and go up in the morning to Mount Sinai. And place yourself here by Me, on the top of the mountain. 3 And a man shall not go up with you. And also let no man be seen on all the mountain. Also do not allow the flocks and the herds to feed before that mountain. 4 And he cut out two tablets of stone like the former. And Moses rose early in the morning and went up into Mount Sinai, as Jehovah had commanded him. And he took in his hand the two tablets of stone. 5 ¶ And Jehovah came down in the cloud. And he placed himself there with Him, and he called on the name of Jehovah. 6 And Jehovah passed by before his face and called out: Jehovah! Jehovah God! Merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and great in goodness and truth, 7 keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and not leaving entirely unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on sons, and on sons of sons, to the third and to the fourth generation.

The Scriptures testify that Moses stays yet another 40 days and 40 nights.

Exodus 34:27-29 (KJV)
And YHWH said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel. [28] And he was there with YHWH forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. YHWH forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
[29] And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.

Exodus 34:27-29 (LITV)
27 And Jehovah said to Moses, Write these words for yourself, for on the mouth of these words I will cut a covenant with you and with Israel.
28 ¶ And he was there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights;  he did not eat bread and he did not drink water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments. 29 And it happened as Moses was going down from Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony being in Moses' hand as he went down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face had become luminous through His speaking with him. 30 And Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses. And, behold! The skin of his face had become luminous. And they were afraid to draw near to him.

Again, the day that Moses likely went into the mountain to receive the new final set of stone tablets of the law, was on a sabbath or the 28th of the fourth month. The scriptures now state that Moses remains there again for 40 days.

That means that 2 days of the fourth month, or one day depending on a 30 day or 29 day month, will be subtracted bringing it to 39 or 38 days.

This brings us to about the 8th or 9th day after a full month of 29 or 30 days, which brings us to the sixth month.

It's known that God uses the number 7 as His holy number and his sabbath and the number 8 is also a special number; the number after seven

shemoneh, shem-o-neh'; or shemowneh, shem-o-neh'; feminine shemonah, shem-o-naw'; or shemownah, shem-o-naw'; apparently from Hebrew 8082 (shamen) through the idea of plumpness; a cardinal number, eight (as if a surplus above the "perfect" seven); also (as ordinal) eighth :- eight ([-een, -eenth]), eighth.

The number "nine" is almost never used in conjunction with things that are holy.

It is now about the 8th day of the sixth Hebrew month that Moses comes down off the mountain 40 days after the 28th of the fourth Hebrew month.

This works perfectly, though note that if the math was one day less, this would mean that Moses returned on the Sabbath or the 7th day of the sixth month.

The seventh day being the day God rested and perhaps one could conclude the Law was therefore possibly completed in stone.

Moses then would leave the mountain arriving on the 7th or 8th day. This highly possible since a Hebrew day is not like our day.

In any case one can see without any doubt that it is indeed within the sixth month that Moses retuned off the mountain with the actual second set of stone tablets which becomes the LAW everlasting law of YHWH.

Exodus 35:1-20 (KJV)
And Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said unto them, These are the words which YHWH hath commanded, that ye should do them. [2] Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to YHWH: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death. [3] Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath day.
[4] And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which YHWH commanded, saying, [5] Take ye from among you an offering unto YHWH: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the Lord; gold, and silver, and brass, [6] And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, [7] And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood, [8] And oil for the light, and spices for anointing oil, and for the sweet incense, [9] And onyx stones, and stones to be set for the ephod, and for the breastplate. [10] And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that YHWH hath commanded; [11] The tabernacle, his tent, and his covering, his taches, and his boards, his bars, his pillars, and his sockets, [12] The ark, and the staves thereof, with the mercy seat, and the vail of the covering, [13] The table, and his staves, and all his vessels, and the shewbread, [14] The candlestick also for the light, and his furniture, and his lamps, with the oil for the light, [15] And the incense altar, and his staves, and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the hanging for the door at the entering in of the tabernacle, [16] The altar of burnt offering, with his brasen grate, his staves, and all his vessels, the laver and his foot, [17] The hangings of the court, his pillars, and their sockets, and the hanging for the door of the court, [18] The pins of the tabernacle, and the pins of the court, and their cords, [19] The cloths of service, to do service in the holy place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest's office.
[20] And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses.

Rather than repeat the same scriptures with the Literal translation, I wish to point out that the first thing Moses commands is a commandment about the keeping of the sabbath.

Exodus 35 (LITV)
1 ¶ And Moses assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel and said to them, These are the Words which Jehovah has commanded, to do them: 2 Work may be done six days and on the seventh day it shall be holy to you, a sabbath of rest to Jehovah; everyone doing work in it dying shall die. 3 You shall not kindle a fire in all your dwellings on the day of the Sabbath.

Note again, that the "eighth day" would also be the first day of the new week.

Here, Moses is teaching six days to do all work in, on the same day Moses come down from the mountain.

Is there perhaps a greater significance to this placement of this Commandment given the same day Moss come off the mountain, and before Moses about to commence the children of Israel to gather for the offering for YHWH's holy services?

Perhaps or perhaps not, but one thing is clear; this marks the point where the children of Israel begin gathering items to build all the holy item commanded by YHWH for his Holy tabernacle and sanctuary services.

One can also surmise that it took a fair period of time to create all of the Holy tabernacle items as the Scriptures states the following:

Exodus 36:3-7 (KJV)
And they received of Moses all the offering, which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, to make it withal. And they brought yet unto him free offerings every morning. [4] And all the wise men, that wrought all the work of the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they made; [5] And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which YHWH commanded to make. [6] And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing. [7] For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.

Exodus 36:3-7 (LITV)
3 And they took every offering before Moses which the sons of Israel had brought for the work of the service in the holy place, to do it. And they brought to him still more willing offerings morning by morning. 4 And all the wise men came, those doing every kind of work for the sanctuary, each one from his work they were doing. 5 And they spoke to Moses, saying, The people are bringing more than enough for the service of the work that Jehovah commanded, to do it. 6 And Moses commanded, and they caused it to be voiced in the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more offering for the sanctuary; and the people were held back from bringing. 7 And their property was sufficient for all the work, to do it, and it was too much.

In the next Scripture we are brought to the exact timing importance of the tabernacle sanctuary.

Note the difference in the literal translation of Hebrew and the King James.

Exodus 40:1-2 (KJV)
And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying, [2] On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.

Exodus 40:1-2 (LITV)
1 ¶ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, 2 On the first day of the month, on the first of the month, you shall raise up the tent of the tabernacle of the congregation.

Upon first appearance, it might seem that the tabernacle was to raised in the seventh month when reading the Literal Bible translation, but a restatement later in the Scriptures describing the result of this commandment by God, marks the the actual time when the tabernacle was to be raised —being on the new year or the first month of the new year.

Exodus 40:17-19 (KJV)
And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up. [18] And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and fastened his sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up his pillars. [19] And he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as the Lord commanded Moses.

(The Literal Bible version also agrees in pointing out second year of the first month.)

Note that this is also the same month that the passover takes place.

It is interesting to note that the Scriptures, for what ever reason, appear to have skipped ahead in time to one year— to the second year.

Thus, the reader (unless he notices it) misses the any description of the seventh month in the book of Exodus ending with a new year.

The text then continues into Leviticus, not in the same year, but one finds that it speaks of entering the second the new year.

Exodus 40:17-34 (KJV)
And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up. [18] And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and fastened his sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up his pillars. [19] And he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as YHWH commanded Moses. [20] And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark: [21] And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the vail of the covering, and covered the ark of the testimony; as YHWH commanded Moses. [22] And he put the table in the tent of the congregation, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the vail. [23] And he set the bread in order upon it before YHWH; as YHWH had commanded Moses. [24] And he put the candlestick in the tent of the congregation, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward. [25] And he lighted the lamps before YHWH; as YHWH commanded Moses. [26] And he put the golden altar in the tent of the congregation before the vail: [27] And he burnt sweet incense thereon; as YHWH commanded Moses. [28] And he set up the hanging at the door of the tabernacle. [29] And he put the altar of burnt offering by the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the meat offering; as YHWH commanded Moses. [30] And he set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and put water there, to wash withal. [31] And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat: [32] When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as YHWH commanded Moses. [33] And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work. [34] Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of YHWH filled the tabernacle.

This is most curious, but perhaps the it will be revealed at a later point in time in the Bible as you study.

It would appear that the Tabernacle which is raised up on the First of the first month of year is a TIME Marker, which closes with the seventh month festivities.

So the first day of the new year, the tabernacle was to be raised up.

Note that first day also begins day one of a sabbath week which ends with the seventh day or day 7. With this in mind, read the next scripture describing what was to take place now that the tabernacle was raised.

Leviticus 8:1-36 (KJV)
And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying, [2] Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil, and a bullock for the sin offering, and two rams, and a basket of unleavened bread; [3] And gather thou all the congregation together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. [4] And Moses did as YHWH commanded him; and the assembly was gathered together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. [5] And Moses said unto the congregation, This is the thing which YHWH commanded to be done. [6] And Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water. [7] And he put upon him the coat, and girded him with the girdle, and clothed him with the robe, and put the ephod upon him, and he girded him with the curious girdle of the ephod, and bound it unto him therewith. [8] And he put the breastplate upon him: also he put in the breastplate the Urim and the Thummim. [9] And he put the mitre upon his head; also upon the mitre, even upon his forefront, did he put the golden plate, the holy crown; as YHWH commanded Moses. [10] And Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was therein, and sanctified them. [11] And he sprinkled thereof upon the altar seven times, and anointed the altar and all his vessels, both the laver and his foot, to sanctify them. [12] And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron's head, and anointed him, to sanctify him. [13] And Moses brought Aaron's sons, and put coats upon them, and girded them with girdles, and put bonnets upon them; as YHWH commanded Moses. [14] And he brought the bullock for the sin offering: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the bullock for the sin offering. [15] And he slew it; and Moses took the blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about with his finger, and purified the altar, and poured the blood at the bottom of the altar, and sanctified it, to make reconciliation upon it. [16] And he took all the fat that was upon the inwards, and caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and Moses burned it upon the altar. [17] But the bullock, and his hide, his flesh, and his dung, he burnt with fire without the camp; as YHWH commanded Moses. [18] And he brought the ram for the burnt offering: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram. [19] And he killed it; and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about. [20] And he cut the ram into pieces; and Moses burnt the head, and the pieces, and the fat. [21] And he washed the inwards and the legs in water; and Moses burnt the whole ram upon the altar: it was a burnt sacrifice for a sweet savour, and an offering made by fire unto YHWH; as YHWH commanded Moses. [22] And he brought the other ram, the ram of consecration: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram. [23] And he slew it; and Moses took of the blood of it, and put it upon the tip of Aaron's right ear, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot. [24] And he brought Aaron's sons, and Moses put of the blood upon the tip of their right ear, and upon the thumbs of their right hands, and upon the great toes of their right feet: and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about. [25] And he took the fat, and the rump, and all the fat that was upon the inwards, and the caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and the right shoulder: [26] And out of the basket of unleavened bread, that was before YHWH, he took one unleavened cake, and a cake of oiled bread, and one wafer, and put them on the fat, and upon the right shoulder: [27] And he put all upon Aaron's hands, and upon his sons' hands, and waved them for a wave offering before YHWH. [28] And Moses took them from off their hands, and burnt them on the altar upon the burnt offering: they were consecrations for a sweet savour: it is an offering made by fire unto YHWH. [29] And Moses took the breast, and waved it for a wave offering before YHWH: for of the ram of consecration it was Moses' part; as YHWH commanded Moses. [30] And Moses took of the anointing oil, and of the blood which was upon the altar, and sprinkled it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon his sons' garments with him; and sanctified Aaron, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons' garments with him. [31] And Moses said unto Aaron and to his sons, Boil the flesh at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and there eat it with the bread that is in the basket of consecrations, as I commanded, saying, Aaron and his sons shall eat it. [32] And that which remaineth of the flesh and of the bread shall ye burn with fire. [33] And ye shall not go out of the door of the tabernacle of the congregation in seven days, until the days of your consecration be at an end: for seven days shall he consecrate you. [34] As he hath done this day, so YHWH hath commanded to do, to make an atonement for you. [35] Therefore shall ye abide at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation day and night seven days, and keep the charge of YHWH, that ye die not: for so I am commanded. [36] So Aaron and his sons did all things which YHWH commanded by the hand of Moses.

The importance of this, is the fact that God commands Aaron and his sons— the priests— to be sanctified and consecrated seven days.

Leviticus 8:33-36 (LITV)
33 and you shall not go out of the door of the tabernacle of the congregation for seven days, until the days of your consecration are fulfilled. For He shall consecrate you seven days; 34 as He has done on this day, Jehovah has commanded you to do, to make atonement for you. 35 And you shall remain at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation day and night for seven days, and you shall keep the charge of Jehovah and shall not die; for so I have been commanded. 36 And Aaron and his sons did all the things which Jehovah had commanded by the hand of Moses.

This places the time now at the first sabbath (seventh day) of the first month of the second year. Now read what happened on the eighth day.

Leviticus 9:1-24 (KJV)
And it came to pass on the eighth day, that Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel; [2] And he said unto Aaron, Take thee a young calf for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, without blemish, and offer them before YHWH. [3] And unto the children of Israel thou shalt speak, saying, Take ye a kid of the goats for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb, both of the first year, without blemish, for a burnt offering; [4] Also a bullock and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before YHWH; and a meat offering mingled with oil: for to day YHWH will appear unto you. [5] And they brought that which Moses commanded before the tabernacle of the congregation: and all the congregation drew near and stood before YHWH. [6] And Moses said, This is the thing which YHWH commanded that ye should do: and the glory of YHWH shall appear unto you. [7] And Moses said unto Aaron, Go unto the altar, and offer thy sin offering, and thy burnt offering, and make an atonement for thyself, and for the people: and offer the offering of the people, and make an atonement for them; as YHWH commanded. [8] Aaron therefore went unto the altar, and slew the calf of the sin offering, which was for himself. [9] And the sons of Aaron brought the blood unto him: and he dipped his finger in the blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar, and poured out the blood at the bottom of the altar: [10] But the fat, and the kidneys, and the caul above the liver of the sin offering, he burnt upon the altar; as YHWH commanded Moses. [11] And the flesh and the hide he burnt with fire without the camp. [12] And he slew the burnt offering; and Aaron's sons presented unto him the blood, which he sprinkled round about upon the altar. [13] And they presented the burnt offering unto him, with the pieces thereof, and the head: and he burnt them upon the altar. [14] And he did wash the inwards and the legs, and burnt them upon the burnt offering on the altar [15] And he brought the people's offering, and took the goat, which was the sin offering for the people, and slew it, and offered it for sin, as the first. [16] And he brought the burnt offering, and offered it according to the manner. [17] And he brought the meat offering, and took an handful thereof, and burnt it upon the altar, beside the burnt sacrifice of the morning. [18] He slew also the bullock and the ram for a sacrifice of peace offerings, which was for the people: and Aaron's sons presented unto him the blood, which he sprinkled upon the altar round about [19] And the fat of the bullock and of the ram, the rump, and that which covereth the inwards, and the kidneys, and the caul above the liver: [20] And they put the fat upon the breasts, and he burnt the fat upon the altar: [21] And the breasts and the right shoulder Aaron waved for a wave offering before YHWH; as Moses commanded. [22] And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings. [23] And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of YHWH appeared unto all the people. [24] And there came a fire out from before YHWH, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

Note that the eighth day (same as the first day after the sabbath) was the very day the first burnt offering, sin offering, and peace offering in tabernacle service was performed and accepted by YHWH and the glory of YHWH appears to all the people to witness.

8 day

It appears that on this day YHWH gave Israel, in addition to many other statutes and laws, the ordinance of the "day of atonement."

Leviticus 16:1-34 (KJV)
And YHWH spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before YHWH, and died; [2] And YHWH said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat. [3] Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering. [4] He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on. [5] And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering. [6] And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house. [7] And he shall take the two goats, and present them before YHWH at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. [8] And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for YHWH, and the other lot for the scapegoat. [9] And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which YHWH's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering. [10] But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before YHWH, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness. [11] And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself: [12] And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before YHWH, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail: [13] And he shall put the incense upon the fire before YHWH, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not: [14] And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. [15] Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat: [16] And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness. [17] And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel. [18] And he shall go out unto the altar that is before YHWH, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about. [19] And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
[20] And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat: [21] And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: [22] And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness. [23] And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there: [24] And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people. [25] And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar. [26] And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp. [27] And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung. [28] And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp. [29] And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you: [30] For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before YHWH. [31] It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever. YHWH. [32] And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest's office in his father's stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments: [33] And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation. [34] And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as YHWH commanded Moses.

The ordinance that YHWH commanded Moses was to be performed on the tenth day of the seventh month of the year. It was only to be preformed by the high priest and only once a year on the tenth day of seventh month. This "day of atonement" was to be kept as a holy day and a sabbath of rest to atone for all the sins of Israel.

This explains why the one of holiest months of the year was the seventh month. The next Scripture in Leviticus 23 explains all the Feasts of YHWH.

Leviticus 23:4-31 (KJV)
These are the feasts of YHWH, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. [5] In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is YHWH's passover. [6] And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto YHWH: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. [7] In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. [8] But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. [9] And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying, [10] Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: [11] And he shall wave the sheaf before YHWH, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. [12] And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto YHWH. [13] And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto YHWH for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. [14] And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
[15] And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: [16] Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto YHWH. [17] Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto YHWH. [18] And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto YHWH, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto YHWH. [19] Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings. [20] And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the first fruits for a wave offering before YHWH, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to YHWH for the priest. [21] And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations. [22] And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am YHWH your God.
[23] And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying, [24] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. [25] Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH. [26] And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying, [27] Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto YHWH. [28] And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before YHWH your God. [29] For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. [30] And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. [31] Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

Note that this giving of the law here, is still on the eighth day of first month of second year; the same month which the passover shall fall on the 14th day at even.

Leviticus 23:5-6 (LITV)
5 In the first month, on the fourteenth of the month, between the evenings is the Passover to Jehovah. 6 And on the fifteenth of this month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to Jehovah; you shall eat unleavened things seven days.

In addition to explaining the sabbath, the day of first fruits, and feast of the harvest, it states that in the seventh month, the first day shall be a sabbath. Interestingly, this is where the Scriptures appeared to have stopped and then skipped to the beginning of the new (second year Exodus 40) year when the tabernacle was raised.

Leviticus 23:24-36 (LITV)
24 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first of the month, a sabbath shall be to you, a call to a memorial, a holy gathering. 25 You shall do no work of service and you shall bring a fire offering to Jehovah. 26 And Jehovah spoke to Moses saying, 27 Also, on the tenth of this seventh month shall be a day of atonement; there shall be a holy gathering, and you shall humble your souls and shall bring a fire offering to Jehovah. 28 And you shall do no work in this same day, for it is a day of atonement, to atone for you before Jehovah your God. Jehovah your God. 29 For any person who is not humbled in this same day shall be cut off from his people. 30 And any person who does any work in this same day, I shall even destroy that person from the midst of his people. 31 You shall do no work; it is a never ending statute throughout your generations, in all your dwellings. 32 It is a sabbath of rest to you, and you shall humble your souls in the ninth of the month at evening; from evening until evening you shall keep your sabbath. 33 ¶ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, 34 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, In the fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be a Feast of Booths seven days to Jehovah. 35 On the first day shall be a holy gathering; you shall do no work of service. 36 Seven days you shall bring a fire offering to Jehovah; on the eighth day you shall have a holy gathering; and you shall bring the fire offering to Jehovah; it is a solemn assembly; you shall do no work of service.

In this Scriptures above, one can see the law regarding the feast of YHWH particularly the seventh month. The first day of the seventh month was to be a Sabbath of rest.

Then the next holy day was to be on the tenth day or the day of Atonement.

Then on the 15th day which would be the first day after the second sabbath (the 14 day of the month) was the first holy day of what is known as the feast of booths which lasted seven days until the eighth day which was "the last great day".

This "feast of booths" or "feast of tabernacles" takes place from the 15th day to the 22nd of the seventh month. The 22nd day would be a holy day the last great day of the feast.

Leviticus 23:39-44 (KJV)
Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto YHWH seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. [40] And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before YHWH your God seven days. [41] And ye shall keep it a feast unto YHWH seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. [42] Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: [43] That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am YHWH your God. [44] And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of YHWH.

Leviticus 23:39-44 (LITV)
39 Also, in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you gather the increase of the land, you shall keep the feast of Jehovah seven days; on the first day a sabbath, and on the eighth day a sabbath. 40 And you shall take to yourselves on the first day the fruit of majestic trees, palm branches, and boughs of oak trees, and willows of the valley, and shall rejoice before Jehovah your God seven days. Jehovah your God seven days. 41 And you shall keep a feast to Jehovah, seven days in a year, a never ending statute throughout your generations; in the seventh month you shall keep it. 42 You shall live in booths seven days; all who are native in Israel shall live in booths, 43 so that your generations shall know that I caused the sons of Israel to live in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt; I am Jehovah your God. 44 And Moses proclaimed the appointed feasts of Jehovah to the sons of Israel.
