Does it match the Word?
Now that we have some understanding of what the moon was created for, and we now have a finite understating of the lunar or moon phase cycle, realize now that the seventh day was as the Bible said "the seventh day." Always and throughout all Scripture days are referred to in numerals of days or divisions of days such the “ the first day”, or "the second day", on "the third day", "on the sixth day," and "after two days was," "on the seventh of the month" or in many cases "one and twentieth day.”
So we see that God uses numbers. The ancient peoples also calculated their days by a numbering system counting days from the first day.
Both the New Testament and Old Testament are consistent. You will never find a day mentioned with weekly name such as "Monday, Sunday or Saturday".
I will explain why you will never find Monday, Sunday, or Saturday in the Bible much later. For it is not the crux of our study, none the less important to research.
For now, lets look at the pure word of God to determine if the Word relates to or gives a witness to a lunar based calendar or a number system which matches the lunar calendar. Those numbers we will be focusing on are:
The first day, seventh day, the fourteenth day, the twenty first day, the twenty eighth day.
The physical items we need to concern our study with are:
The new moon, and the moon, the Sabbath, the month, and months.
This study will be looking chiefly at what happened on around those times in the Scriptures.
Before we begin, lets take a pause and time of refection on all that God has given us so far.
I am thankful to my God for His Holy Word and His awesome promises, glorious plan, and Redemption through our Lord and Savior's blood— Israel's redeemer— Jesus the Christ.
I pray you will be enriched and that God will show me and you the truth regarding this so that if I’m wrong, you'll see it and can help me and or if I’m right, I will be guided into all truth concerning this Bible Sabbath study
I hope this will be true blessing and further your biblical knowledge more that God will bless you and keep you walking in the truth and in all righteousness.
It's in the Holy Name of almighty God, YHWH and His Son, Jesus the Christ I pray.
Amen.
The word "month" is found four times in the book of Genesis. For our Study, we must start at a Biblical marking point— in the book of Exodus.
Did God ever give us a clearly defined marking point in the Bible?
Many will answer "the beginning in Genesis 1.1." That is true, but God also gave us another one and I’m sure there are many Scriptures that can be used as marking points. But for this study, let's start with a chief marking point in God’s ordained time.
In the book of Exodus God gave Moses and all the children of Israel a clearly defined marked point in time, by which all else would follow. If we study this marking point we can find out where everything else follows after it.
Let's begin with Exodus 12:2 (KJV)
Exodus 12:2 (KJV)
This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
If ever there was a marking point, this sure sounds like great place to start!
So where are we?
Exodus 12:1-2 (KJV)
And YHWH spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, [2] This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
So what was happening at this particular time in the land of Egypt?
Exodus 11:1-12:2 (KJV)
And YHWH (the LORD) said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether. [2] Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold. [3] And YHWH (the LORD) gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people. [4] And Moses said, Thus saith YHWH (the LORD), About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: [5] And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts. [6] And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more. [7] But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the Lord doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel. [8] And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger. [9] And YHWH (the LORD) said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt. [10] And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and YHWH (the LORD) hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.
[12:1] And YHWH (the LORD) spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, [2] This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
What we now have, is a time, and a place, and actions taking place.
Now read what happens after this Scripture.
Exodus 12:1-14 (KJV)
And YHWH (the Lord) spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, [2] This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
[3] Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: [4] And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. [5] Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: [6] And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. [7] And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. [8] And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. [9] Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. [10] And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
[11] And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is YHWH (the LORD)'s passover. [12] For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am YHWH (the LORD). [13] And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. [14] And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to YHWH (the LORD) throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
Did you notice this month marks the first month of the year and on the first month is the Passover. Did you also notice when and what day this Holy ordinance occurred. Here is the same scripture again with bolded words emphasized.
So notice a few things here. YHWH (God) says to Moses that on the tenth day of this month which shall be the first of all months, you will select a lamb. Then there is noted that on the fourteenth day of the same month at evening all the congregation of Israel shall kill the lamb. And they shall eat the flesh roasted over fire in the night. They shall not let any of the lamb remain by the morning. This was the LORD YHWH’s PASSOVER for on this NIGHT YHWH did pass through Egypt and slay the first born of all the Egyptians first born who had not put the lamb’s blood on the door posts and the lintel from eating the Passover lamb.
So what we have is the "first month," "the tenth," and "the fourteenth."
As shown earlier, the word “month” is actually “new moon.”
So what God was saying is this new moon (month) shall be the beginning cycle of new moon to new moons (months) and On the tenth day of the month (after the new moon) a lamb is selected. But it on the 14th day of the same month ( 14 days after the new moon) at evening (tide).
Notice that 14 is divisible by 7 days. All this appears to match what been shown so far.
Notice also that it is in the evening that Israel was to kill the Lamb.
Note the Bible clearly says "at even, at the going down of sun."
Deuteronomy 16:1-8 (KJV)
Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto YHWH (the LORD) thy God: for in the month of Abib YHWH (the LORD) thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night. [2] Thou shalt therefore sacrifice the passover unto YHWH (the LORD) thy God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which YHWH (the LORD) shall choose to place His name there. [3] Thou shalt eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread therewith, even the bread of affliction; for thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt in haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life. [4] And there shall be no leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all night until the morning. [5] Thou mayest not sacrifice the passover within any of thy gates, which YHWH (the LORD) thy God giveth thee: [6] But at the place which YHWH (the LORD) thy God shall choose to place His name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt. [7] And thou shalt roast and eat it in the place which YHWH (the LORD) thy God shall choose: and thou shalt turn in the morning, and go unto thy tents. [8] Six days thou shalt eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be a solemn assembly to YHWH (the LORD) thy God: thou shalt do no work therein.
In other words: Day13 in morning hours till the evening hours closes and begins Day 14th in the evening when the lamb was killed. Again this only the beginning of the fourteenth day. The fourteenth day will extend until morning, which again, extend until the next evening when the 15 day begins in evening of what you and I would say was the 14th day today.
Note in the graphic above that the 10th of the month in a lunar phase is in modern terminology a "waxing gibbous" according to astronomers today. Also note that the 14th day of the lunar month phase is a full moon!
Psalm 81:3 (KJV)
Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
The Word "appointed" is the Hebrew word "Kece."
kece', Hebrew 3677, Strong’s
kece', keh'-seh; or keceh, keh'-seh; apparently from Hebrew 3680 (kacah); properly fulness or the full moon, i.e. its festival :- (time) appointed.
kacah, Hebrew 3680, Strong’s
kacah, kaw-saw'; a primitive root; properly to plump, i.e. fill up hollows; by implication to cover (for clothing or secrecy) :- clad self, close, clothe, conceal, cover (self), (flee to) hide, overwhelm. Compare Hebrew 3780 (kasah).
Note that the meaning of word Kese is from a root word to be of "fullness" or as it states "The full moon" as it relates to a "festival."
It's obvious the Hebrews held a festival on the full moon or rather a Sabbath— on the full moon or 14th day of the lunar month.
With this knowledge and God's awesome Word of truth, let's continue.
