The Third Day of Salvation
You've just been shown how the Passover and feast of unleavened bread both appear to testify as witnesses to keeping the days and time, and months by a new moon to new moon, and the various days determined by following the moon or lunar cycle.
You also learned the importance of the Hebrew word "sabbath" and the number "seven" and that it was very important for God to have "seven days of unleavened bread" and that the children of Israel were to follow all the feasts to the letter in their day.
It was important to God's plan to have these ordinances carried out by Israel throughout their generations as physical ordinances to bring to light the truth contained in the spiritual types and shadows of both spiritual and physical things that were to come according to the word and the promises by the mouth of God. The feast of unleavened bread was an important part of the salvation plan of Almighty God.
Continuing on you're going see the very fruit of that Salvation plan.
There are a few things that have been shown already regarding a day in God's time, a month, and how the Hebrews kept track of the days and their appointed Sabbaths.
Now we're going take a brief pause in the study and focus on what happened from this important moment in biblical time, because the Passover also serves to us as a marker and a way of keeping time in the Bible. In the book of Exodus and other scriptures we can witness the text referring to how many years since the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt and other texts mentioning a time frame after the very day they came out of Egypt.
Numbers 9:1 (KJV)
And YHWH (the LORD) spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
So it's very important to focus on the Passover day. To understand and to know the exact days after the Passover, one must first understand when the Passover was, what was the Hebrew concept of a day and a month, and when each starts and when each finishes according to the Scriptures.
Having this knowledge will help and make it possible to track all the other days and dates from this point forward.
The word of God gives us many minute details and clues. Every word of the text must now be carefully discerned for those clues which gives any indication of the days, when during the day, how many days passed since a given day and/or month. Next we need to figure out does it match according to what has already been shown.
So let's begin back to a time before the children of Israel were brought out of Egypt by the glorious hand of YHWH.
We start with Moses, the servant of the YHVH, who is now on the Mount of God and speaking to "I AM" through the burning bush.
Exodus 3:11-18 (KJV)
And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt? [12] And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain. [13] And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is His Name? what shall I say unto them? [14] And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. [15] And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, YHVH (The LORD) God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. [16] Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, YHWH (The LORD) God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt: [17] And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey. [18] And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, YHVH (The LORD) God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to YHVH (the LORD) our God.
Notice what it states in this amazing text specifically regarding a time at the mouth of YHWH/I AM the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob.
It says “And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, YHVH (The LORD) God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to YHVH (the LORD) our God.”
You can see that Moses is told that he and all Israel will go a three day's Journey into the wilderness to sacrifice to Almighty God.
Moses, we later find approaches Pharaoh, as YHVH commanded him, and asks exactly this.
Exodus 5:1-4 (KJV)
And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith YHVH (the LORD) God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. [2] And Pharaoh said, Who is YHVH (the LORD), that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not YHVH (the LORD), neither will I let Israel go. [3] And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto YHVH (the LORD) our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword. [4] And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.
It's clear from the Hebrew text that Moses and Aaron state to Pharaoh that they are asking to hold “a feast” to YHVH in the wilderness. This feast, whereby there will be a sacrifice, and was a three day’s journey as stated previously by the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob.
“The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto YHVH (the LORD) our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.
Later in Exodus, we learn that Moses is asking Pharaoh for teh children of Israel to go sacrifice to GOD, but Pharaoh forbids him to travel far, whereby Moses states that YHVH has Commanded Him to go a three day’s journey.
Exodus 8:25-30 (KJV)
And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, Go ye, sacrifice to your God in the land. [26] And Moses said, It is not meet so to do; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to YHVH (the LORD) our God: lo, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and will they not stone us? [27] We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to YHVH (the LORD) our God, as He shall command us. [28] And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to YHVH (the LORD) your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away: intreat for me. [29] And Moses said, Behold, I go out from thee, and I will intreat YHVH (the LORD) that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, to morrow: but let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to YHVH (the LORD). [30] And Moses went out from Pharaoh, and intreated YHVH (the LORD).
So we can see stated clearly three times in the Scriptures, that Israel commanded by the mouth of YHVH was to travel a three day's journey to the wilderness for a sacrifice.
As was shown earlier, the PASSOVER of YHWH was on the 14th of the first month on the day that God actually brought His children out of Egypt. So we see the biblical clock is going to start ticking from this point forward.
Exodus 12:43-51 (KJV)
And YHVH (the LORD) said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof: [44] But every man's servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof. [45] A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof. [46] In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof. [47] All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. [48] And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to YHVH (the LORD), let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. [49] One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. [50] Thus did all the children of Israel; as YHVH (the LORD) commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they. [51] And it came to pass the selfsame day, that YHVH (the LORD) did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.
Exodus 13:3-4 (KJV)
And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand YHVH (the LORD) brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten. [4] This day came ye out in the month Abib.
Remember that Israel killed the lamb on the evening of the 14th day, meaning the start of the day at evening when the sun went down, and then feasted at night.
At midnight, God came and smote all the first born of Egypt or anyone not covered by the blood of the lamb, which was placed on the lintel and door posts.
This was the Passover. Also the children of Israel were told eat the lamb with their staff in hand, and sandals on their feet and be ready go on a journey this night —or in the Hebrew day of the 14th day in the Morning Hours —did the children of Israel leave the land of Egypt.
So what we have is the children of Israel leaving about the morning, meaning soon will come up the next day at even or the first day of unleavened bread, the 15th of Abib.
Now notice very carefully all you can about the time period in the Scriptures as well as any mention of days.
Exodus 13:17-14:4 (KJV)
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: [18] But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt. [19] And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.
[20] And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness. [21] And YHVH (the LORD) went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: [22] He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
[14:1] And YHVH (the LORD) spake unto Moses, saying, [2] Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baal-zephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea. [3] For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. [4] And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am YHVH (the LORD). And they did so.
So what we see is a vague detail of few days taking place in this journey. The Scripture has already told us there will be a three days journey.
Did you notice carefully that the Scripture stated:
[20] And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness. [21] And YHVH (the LORD) went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: [22] He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
We have something most amazing stated in this scripture. We know that children of Israel left during day of the 14th of Abib and it was morning or day or the lighted or hot time of a day in God's terminology and the Hebrew definition for “day.”
yowm, Hebrew 3117, Strong’s
yowm, yome; from an unused root meaning to be hot; a day (as the warm hours), whether literal (from sunrise to sunset, or from one sunset to the next), or figurative (a space of time defined by an associated term), [often used adverbially] :- age, + always, + chronicles, continually (-ance), daily, ([birth-], each, to) day, (now a, two) days (agone), + elder, × end, + evening, + (for) ever (-lasting, -more), × full, life, as (so) long as (...live), (even) now, + old, + outlived, + perpetually, presently, + remaineth, × required, season, × since, space, then, (process of) time, + as at other times, + in trouble, weather, (as) when, (a, the, within a) while (that), × whole (+ age), (full) year (-ly), + younger.
Remember, as studied already, God called the light day, and darkness, night.
Genesis 1:5 (KJV)
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
So then it mentions "by day" first then it mentions "by night" the time of darkness . We also know that at even begins a new Hebrew day, so night marks here a new day. The scripture then mentions again. It states “give them light; to go by day and night:”
Again day is light which is essentially the morning hours of a Hebrew day. It then mentions night, again meaning we have new day or day two of the feast of unleavened bread.
It then mentions “He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. “
This appears to be a repetition, but it also is stated for a perfect reason, because at day would be the morning of second day of unleavened bread and night clearly shows forth the beginning or at even of the third day!
Read the next scriptures.
Exodus 14:10-31 (KJV)
And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto YHVH (the LORD). [11] And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? [12] Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
[13] And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of YHVH (the LORD), which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. [14] YHVH (the LORD) shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
[15] And YHVH (the LORD) said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: [16] But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. [17] And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. [18] And the Egyptians shall know that I am YHVH (the LORD), when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
[19] And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: [20] And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night. [21] And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and YHVH (the LORD) caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. [22] And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
[23] And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. [24] And it came to pass, that in the morning watch YHVH (the LORD) looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, [25] And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for YHVH (the LORD) fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
[26] And YHVH (the LORD) said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. [27] And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and YHVH (the LORD) overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. [28] And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. [29] But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. [30] Thus YHVH (the LORD) saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. [31] And Israel saw that great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared YHVH (the LORD), and believed YHVH (the LORD) and his servant Moses.
Notice some important clues in the scripture were are told that:
And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of YHVH (the LORD), which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. [14] YHVH (the LORD) shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
The words "to day" as used here, are to mean exactly what they say that today, on this day will you no more see Pharaoh and Egyptians.
Moses is speaking about this day which is now this third day which is likely beginning according to Scriptures at even and night is about to be mentioned proving this is taking place in even or after the start of the third day.
Notice it mentions only night in this point in the Scriptures. There is no mention is made of “day”, because we are now in the third day in the wilderness as they are crossing the parted Red Sea!
But something awesome is about to happen!
Exodus 14:19-31 (KJV)
And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
[31] And Israel saw that great work which YHVH (the LORD) did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared YHVH (the LORD), and believed YHVH (the LORD), and his servant Moses.
We can See that the Salvation of Israel was achieved by the mighty arm of Almighty YHWH on about “the morning watch” of the third day according to the Scriptures by the mouth of YHVH . The morning watch would be very early on the morning of the third day, exactly three days after the Passover of YHVH (the LORD)!
Israel was “Saved” on the morning of the third day and Pharaoh and his army was the sacrifice!
And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and YHVH (the LORD) overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. [28] And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. [29] But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.[30] Thus YHVH (the LORD) saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. [31] And Israel saw that great work which YHVH (the LORD) did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared YHVH (the LORD), and believed YHVH (the LORD), and his servant Moses.
Another way of seeing this is as said by mouth of Moses, YHWH’s servant:
“Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of YHVH (the LORD), which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. [14] YHVH (the LORD) shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. “
The Hebrew word use in this Scripture for “Salvation” is yeshuw`ah (yesh-oo'-aw).
yeshuw`ah, Hebrew 3444, Strong’s
yeshuw`ah, yesh-oo'-aw; feminine passive participle of Hebrew 3467 (yasha`); something saved, i.e. (abstract) deliverance; hence aid, victory, prosperity :- deliverance, health, help (-ing), salvation, save, saving (health), welfare.
Notice this Hebrew term of the English transliteration for name of Jesus or in Greek originally Iesous
Iesous, Greek 2424, Strong’s
Iesous, ee-ay-sooce'; of Hebrew origin [Hebrew 3091 (Yehowshuwa`)]; Jesus (i.e. Jehoshua), the name of our Lord and two (three) other Israelites :- Jesus.
Yehowshuwa`, Hebrew 3091, Strong’s
Yehowshuwa`, yeh-ho-shoo'-ah; or Yehowshu`a, yeh-ho-shoo'-ah; from Hebrew 3068 (Yehovah) and Hebrew 3467 (yasha`); Jehovah-saved; Jehoshuä (i.e. Joshua), the Jewish leader :- Jehoshua, Jehoshuah, Joshua. Compare Hebrew 1954 (Howshea`), Hebrew 3442 (Yeshuwa`).
This name was likely pronounced as YAHSHUA or YESHUA in Jesus' own language of Aramaic/Hebrew.
Notice these Scriptures:

Luke 24:46 (KJV)
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
The very day that YAHSHUA the Christ or YHVH's Salvation arose from the dead, was same exact day that Israel received Salvation!
Mark 16:2 (KJV)
And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
Luke 24:1 (KJV)
Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
Note both The words "day" and "the morning" are not found in the original Greek text, yet both are present in the King James Bible and many other versions. The Greek for "early" is "pro" to mean at dawn or by implication of day-break watch.
pro, Greek 4404, Strong’s
pro, pro-ee'; adverb from Greek 4253 (pro); at dawn; by implication the day-break watch :- early (in the morning), (in the) morning.
Note the word for "the first."
mia, Greek 3391, Strong’s
mia, mee'-ah; irregular feminine of Greek 1520 (heis); one or first :- a (certain), + agree, first, one, × other.
The word for "the week" is also very curious in the Greek text.
sabbaton, sab'-bat-on; of Hebrew origin [Hebrew 7676 (shabbath)]; the Sabbath (i.e. Shabbath), or day of weekly repose from secular avocations (also the observance or institution itself); by extension a se'nnight, i.e. the interval between two Sabbaths; likewise the plural in all the above applications :- sabbath (day), week.
In the Gospel accounts of when Jesus arose from the dead and when the disciples went to find the tomb empty on the third day, the the words "the first day of the week", is not referring to the first day as in counting the first day of seven days to an actual sabbath, rather the first day which was not a Sabbath or holy day.
See when the Salvation of YHWH happend.
