They should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness

Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations. [7] For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I YHWH will answer him by myself: [8] And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am YHWH. [9] And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I YHWH have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. [10] And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him; [11] That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord God.
[12] The word of YHWH came again to me, saying, [13] Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it: [14] Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord God.
[15] If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts: [16] Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.
[17] Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it: [18] Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.
[19] Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast: [20] Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness. [21] For thus saith the Lord God; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?
[22] Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it. [23] And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord God.
Do you understand the text that is coming to you now?
Do you see? Can you read it and understand it with your eyes?
What is God Almighty YHWH saying here?
Let's go through it in detail, line by line.
Ezekiel 14:6-23 (KJV)
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
Could this message to you and many other Christians, be to those of the house [the Church] of Israel [the Israel of God]?
Look YHWH sent His prophets to His people. It's they who were guilty of iniquity and cleaving to worldly things, rejecting YHWH.
They made idols in their hearts, they sought after worldly things, they sought their own god—usually themselves—by their own actions put themselves before God, making the thing they do as idolatry before God.
Could this also be the same as a tradition, or a doctrine, a theology, as well, foreign beliefs or philosophies that have infected today's Church?
Galatians 6:1-18 (KJV)
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. [2] Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. [3] For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. [4] But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. [5] For every man shall bear his own burden. [6] Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. [7] Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. [15] For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. [16] And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. [17] From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. [18] Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
So what does YHWH expect then when His children are guilty of abomination or idols in their hearts?
REPENT, and TURN YOURSELVES away from your idols, the things you now worship in your hearts.
Ezekiel 14:7-8 (KJV)

YHWH does not respect faces, nor look upon one's wealth, nor take a bribe.
NO! YHWH looks to one's heart for righteousness, the righteousness not in deed only, but in the heart, where God can see one's righteousness, or a repentant heart before God in times when our righteousness is not so righteous.
1st Samuel 16:7 (KJV)
But YHWH said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for YHWH seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but YHWH looketh on the heart.
Note that this is a sin and ALL SIN SEPARATES us from YHWH, from God.
Please understand that all men sin.
Romans 3:9 (KJV)
What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
All men are born into sin. Therefore God needs us to remove that sin that separates us from God.
Romans 5:12-13 (KJV)
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: [13] (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Those who separate himself or herself from YHWH, and put a stumbling block before his or her face, will be visited by YHWH.
What is a "stumbling block?"
Obviously it is something put there to make us stumble, to fall, or trip, or stub our toes on, causing pain, and making us dirty after we fall on the ground.
Understand one is already dirty, from the unrighteousness.
Ezekiel 14:8 (KJV)
[8] And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am YHWH.
When this happens, when one falls into sin and falls from a stumbling block, especially one we enjoyed, or loved, or sought to put there, YHWH, Almighty God will answer him.
YHWH says that He will set His face against that man or woman, and He will let his judgment fall in punishments, in reproves, in rebukes, that the one rebuked, punished or reproved might come back to YHWH—where the sinner comes back to truly knowing God is Real; HE IS IN CHARGE; HE is supreme; HE wants what is best for us and Knows what is best for us; and that when we seek His Face, He will forgive and bless us.
Peter an apostle of Jesus, the Christ, taught:
Acts 10:34-35 (KJV)
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: [35] But in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with Him.
Ezekiel 14:9 (KJV)
[9] And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I YHWH have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
The example herein, is the biblical narrative referring to the prophets, which have not walked in righteousness, but have been deceived by their own lies.
Having been judged and found impure liars, and thus YHWH sent them a delusion, a false notion and He would destroy that prophet, because he sought his own flesh, not the obedience or the face of YHWH his God.

And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And He said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. [23] Now therefore, behold, YHWH hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and YHWH hath spoken evil concerning thee.
2nd Chronicles 18:21-22 (KJV)
And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And YHWH said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so. [22] Now therefore, behold, YHWH hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and YHWH hath spoken evil against thee.
The above Scriptures show that God Willed, that He sent a lying spirit to the false prophets who spoke of their own, peace and blessing for the king, so that the king would fall as YHWH hath spoken evil concerning him.
If God sent those false prophets a false spirit, can He not send us a delusion?
2nd Thessalonians 2:1-12 (KJV)
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, [2] That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. [3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; [4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. [5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? [6] And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. [7] For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. [8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: [9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, [10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. [11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: [12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
God surely can send those who choose NOT to believe the truth.
What cause will God shall send them strong delusion?
"That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."
Those who have pleasure in unrighteousness, in sin, which is the transgression of God's holy law.
Those who willfully choose to sin, reject the truth, rejecting their God.

Ezekiel 14:10 (KJV)
[10] And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him;
So those in sin, who walk in unrighteousness, in this case the prophets and those who seek them, will be punished, reproved by God for their iniquities.
Ezekiel 14:11 (KJV)
[11] That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord God.
God does all of this to preserve His people, His children, the children of Israel, the Israel of God, or those God wants to have a Holy righteous living intimate one on one relationship with "that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord God."
2nd Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
The end result is always the same, if only we would seek His face.
Ezekiel 14:12 (KJV)
12] The word of YHWH came again to me, saying, [13] Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:
If God will punish the man who sinneith, what do you think God will do with that land or nation that sins, and seeks their own idols of their hearts?
The love of money, materialism, power, sexual immorality, drugs, violence, murders, shedding of innocent blood, lies, hypocrisy, idolatry, disobedience, rebellion, hatred etc.
God says HE will punish that land. He will prove, and rebuke whether it is by fire, or wind or, or earth quakes or tsunamis, famine, or war and violent events, or thieves, or accidents, or medical injuries, disease, bad misfortunes, etc.
God will get your attention.
Is He now getting your attention?
Ezekiel 14:14 (KJV)
[14] Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord God.
Can you read that and understand what it says?
Though only these three men were in the nation, populated by millions or thousands, only the righteous before God will be delivered.
Why will only they be delivered?
By their righteousness—that which is the measure of righteousness before God, not man or his self-righteousness or his righteous deeds, he or she thinks they have done or lived by.
Are you a "good" person in God's eyes?
The righteousness of God can be found in His holy Laws, commandments and statutes. Those who do them and live by them will be living according to righteousness.
Galatians 3:10 (KJV)
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
When Christ came to earth, He said He came not to destroy the law, but to fulfill.
Matthew 5:17-20 (KJV)
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. [18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. [19] Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. [20] For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus taught on the law of God's righteousness, not the letter of the law (as the Pharisees only understood), but the Spirit of the law of God— God's holy righteousness —which Israel failed to comprehend, seeking the letter but not the Spirit out of the heart, to see that God sought not sacrifices, but mercy and righteousness and faith.

But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Matthew 12:7 (KJV)
But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Only these three men, the righteous one's before God's Eyes, would be delivered.

[17] Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it: [18] Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.
Only these three men, only the righteous before God's Eyes, would be delivered.
They will not deliver their mother, father, or daughter, or sisters, or brother, or friends, or the man or the nice old lady living down the street, for they are not seen in God eyes as being as living righteous, not according Job or Moses or Noah's idea of righteousness, or their doctrine, or beliefs, but only according to God's righteousness.
How does one begin to receive God's righteousness?
YHWH said it:
Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

[19] Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast: [20] Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.
When the great deadly sickness and flu and pestilence comes to the land, from YHWH's judgment— only these three men—only the righteous before God's Eyes, would be delivered.
Ezekiel 14:21 (KJV)
[21] For thus saith the Lord God; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?
These are four Judgments on the land—On Jerusalem, and Jerusalem could also be a type and shadow for the new covenant Church of Almighty God.

[22] Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.
God has a loyal remnant who will either by their righteousness before God; or their repentance before God; or by seeking or returning to seek God's Face to seek His mercy and His forgiveness and will be saved.
A remnant, does not mean a large part or portion, but a small part kept saved to be delivered from the wrath to come.

Afterward God will comfort those whom overcome.

God does all these thing to save His creation not to destroy.
Only the unrighteous are destroyed.

Are YOU walking in sins, or living in Sin?

Are you walking in unrighteousness? Not by Your own definition, But that which is God's measure.
Are YOU obeying all God commanded without knowing Christ?
Are you under the curse of the law, or protected— covered by God's Mercy?
