Jesus died for your sins

Ephesians 1:7
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Romans 1:16-17
¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Jesus came into the world to take away the sins of his people. He was born just for this purpose.

Matthew 1:18-23
¶ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

When Jesus was a grown man at the age of 33 before his death on the cross, Jesus declared to his disciples the new testament of God.

Matthew 26:26-28
¶ And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

The New Testament, or New Covenant, was the second new covenant God made with the children of Israel unlike the first covenant God made with Israel at Mount Sinai after leaving Egypt. The holy prophet of Israel, Jeremiah, at a time when Israel had sinned greatly and was punished for their sins spoke of this coming new covenant.

Jeremiah 31:31-34
Behold, the days come, saith YHWH, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith YHWH: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith YHWH, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know YHWH: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith YHWH: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

The God of Israel, YHWH (pronounced Yahweh), under this new covenant made with Israel would by His grace, extend mercy and remember their sins no more.

What exactly is this idea of sin?

Sin is the transgression of God’s laws.

1st John 3:4
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

The Children of Israel were given laws and many law statutes of the main ten commandment laws of God given to Israel at Mount Sinai. If the children of Israel broke God’s laws they had sinned against God. God imputed, or assigned, sin to anyone who broke YHWH‘s law.

This also applies to all of man. When the first man Adam and his wife Eve broke God’s law in the Garden of Eden by eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God imputed sin on not only Adam and Eve, but the children of Adam and Eve, the father and mother of all mankind. Therefore all men, all mankind, who descended from the very first humans, has the curse of sin upon them.

In the appointed due time, Jesus died on the cross, his blood shed for the sins of the children of Israel and all men and women born under the curse of Adam and Eve’s sin.

Romans 4:6-12
¶ For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

It was the children of Israel who were the only people God gave his laws to, beside the fact that they were also descended of Adam and Eve. So the Children of Israel had a double portion of sin because of their transgressions against God’s holy laws.

With transgressions of the law came sins, and with further sins came punishment, or God’s wrath.

The law of YHWH, God, commanded that those who sin to bring offerings for sin to God so He could take away or remove their sins. This old covenant system of atonement of the sins of Israel could not bring to full redemption for the children of Israel as over time Israel would sin more and more, moving farther away from God, for all sin separates us from God.

Thus when Israel was lost in their sins without a savior, God declared a New Covenant where he would have mercy on the children of Israel who had sinned, and been punished, and cast way for their many sins.

Jesus, Israel’s Messiah and Christ, in the New Covenant, or New Testament, died on the cross to remove the sin of the children of Israel who were cursed under the law of God.

Hebrews 9:11-14
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Therefore, before Jesus died, he told his disciples to go preach the good news, the gospel, and the salvation coming for Israel only to the lost sheep of the children of Israel.

They were to preach that they should believe on JESUS that He is the promised savior and Christ. Only by their faith in Jesus could they be saved.

While Jesus lived, before his death on the cross, he preached for them to have faith to believe in him. After Jesus had died and had risen, his disciples preached to everyone, both Jews or Israelites and non-Jews or Gentiles, to have faith in Jesus the Christ.

For a man is not justified by the keeping of the law or any works of his or her own, but by his or her faith in Jesus the Christ.

Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Galatians 3:11-14
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

It is by faith in Jesus the Christ, we receive the grace of God and are justified before God by faith.

This applied to Israel. That by preaching of Jesus to Israel they should be justified by faith in Christ.

Galatians 3:22-26
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

It also applied to non-Israelites--everyone else, all men and women.

Ephesians 1:7
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

All would have access to redemption through Jesus’ blood shed on the cross.

Ephesians 1:3-7
¶ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Israel sinned greatly and as stated before, all mankind is born under sin.

This atonement and the blood sacrifice of Jesus on the cross in 33 A.D. applies to everyone today!

Think about that, you live today, and you were not even born yet when Christ lived and died, but Jesus made a sacrifice on his cross for your sins!

Ephesians 2:1-9
¶ And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4 ¶ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Colossians1:12-14
¶ Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Jesus died for your sins!

Colossians 1:19-22
For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. 21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Jesus came to save sinners like you and me.

1st Timothy 1:15
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Jesus gave his life as a ransom, a payment for your sin to save you from God’s wrath and the curses of the transgressions of the laws of God.

1st Timothy 2:3-6
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Jesus gave his life for you and your sins that you might receive the salvation of God by your faith in Jesus the Christ!

Hebrews 9:27-28
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Your sins were paid for, you were redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus the Christ!

1st Peter 1:18-20
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

Jesus bore all the sins of the world and that includes your sin when Jesus died on the cross!

1st Peter 1:21-24
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Jesus was a righteous man of God, the Son of God, who died and bled for the unrighteous, the sinners.

1st Peter 3:18
¶ For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Jesus’ blood cleanses us from all sin!

1st John 1:5-2:2
¶ This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 ¶ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 ¶ My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

1st Jon 4:9-10
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Jesus died on the cross and bled his holy blood to atone for your sins!

Realize Jesus also arose from the dead on the third day after his burial. Jesus conquered death in his resurrection by the power and glory of God.

Therefore we believe on Jesus’ death which takes away the sins of the world, and we have faith in his resurrection that we too might be resurrected to life everlasting as our savior Jesus the Christ lives forever more!

1st Corinthians 15:20
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

Acts 17:3
Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

Romans 8:34
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Colossians 2:8-15
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 ¶ And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Therefore the conclusion of the matter is simple: Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and have faith in his redeeming blood sacrifice which cleanses us from all sin and his resurrection from death to everlasting life!

John 3:14-18
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

I leave you with a word of exhortation from one of Christ's chief apostles and the man Jesus gave his keys to the kingdom of heaven to.

Acts 2:38-41
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. 41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Save yourselves from this untoward generation believe in Jesus and have faith in Jesus the Christ for He died for your sins!
