Sin, death, and victory

1st Corinthians 15:55-57
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Death is something we all have to deal with. All people die and will die at one time in their life in this world.

It is sin that has caused death to be laid upon mankind. The first sin committed by our great, great, great, ancient ancestors Adam and Eve who broke God’s commandment and were cursed with the curse of sin and the promise of death.

Genesis 2:16
¶ And YHWH God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Hebrews 9:27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Before man broke God’s commandment, man lived in a peaceful, healthy, relationship with God. After man had disobeyed God and transgressed against God’s holy law in the Garden of Eden, man was banished from the paradise of God and separated from God and his presence, for God is holy and cannot tolerate sin.

Genesis 3:22
¶ And YHWH God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: 23 Therefore YHWH God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. 24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Sin is simply the transgression of the law of God.

1st John 3:4
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

1st Corinthians 15:56
The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

Since Adam and Eve were the first humans from which all mankind today come from, the same curse of sin extends on all men and women today. Sin is deadly as it ultimately only leads to more sin. Thus, all humans have a sinful nature.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

This created a severe problem for God. For God created Adam and Eve perfect to have a loving relationship with him, but now Satan, the serpent in the garden of Eden, polluted mankind with sin. Therefore, God had to do something urgent because he loved his creation wanting that relationship with man. As soon as the first sin was committed by man, God had a plan to save mankind from its sins.

Genesis 3:14-15
¶ And YHWH God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

In due time YHWH God sent his Son, a precious part of God himself, to earth in the form of human flesh, to give his life to remove the sin, or iniquity, of man before God, so that God can once again have fellowship with man and have a personal relationship with his creation.

John 1:1-14
¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 ¶ And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

That human was also God in the flesh, the man JESUS, the Son of God.

1st Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Jesus came to earth to give his life for the sins of mankind, as a sacrifice acceptable to God, to be a substitute for mankind.

John 10:17-18
Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

What does it mean to be a substitute?

It means that Jesus, who was righteous and sinless, took upon himself all the vile sins of mankind (all the sins of the world) on himself and took upon himself all the wrath of God, the punishment that was meant for you and me and all sinners, all of mankind, because God is a righteous, Holy God who cannot tolerate any sin in his presence.

2nd Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

When Jesus, the Son of God, died on the cross, he personally experienced the wrath of God, the pain, torturous suffering which we as sinners and rebellious creation deserved in God’s holy eyes and his righteous judgement.

God suffered in flesh shedding his blood on the cross for us.

God therefore sent his Word as recorded today in the Holy Bible written by men over a great span of time who were inspired by the Holy Spirit to be read and understood by mankind, to receive the testimony of Jesus the Christ of God so that whosoever would truly believe in JESUS would receive the gift of the removal of all their sins and made righteous by God and receive everlasting life, returned back to God to have a personal relationship with the one true living God as it was before the fall of man in the Garden of Eden.

Hebrews 9:27-28
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

This is why Jesus came to earth, this is the good news of Jesus the Christ.

All those who believe will be cleansed of their sins and will be accepted by God and enter into a personal relationship with God.

The Holy Bible says it is appointed once for men to die, but for those who believe in Christ Jesus and in his saving name, they shall live after their death in this world, and be granted entrance into God’s holy heavenly kingdom paradise.

John 11:25-26
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Acts 4:10-12
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Contrary to popular belief there are no deceased persons in heaven, just yet. The Holy Bible tells us that all men die and end up in the grave. There is no one, save those few mentioned in the Holy Bible that were taken and reside now in heaven in addition to God, the Lord and Savior.

All men and women who have died are awaiting their judgement in the earth, buried in the ground or under the Sea. They shall remain there dead until the day God resurrects them to life to face his righteous judgement.

John 5:26-29
For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; 27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. 28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

One day in the future when the time of God is appointed, both the dead in Christ (believers) and the dead out of Christ, (unbelievers) will be raised from the dead and resurrected alive to kneel in front of God’s throne and give an accounting of their life before God at the final judgement.

Isaiah 45:23
I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

Romans 14:11
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Philippians 2:10
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Some don’t believe there is a hell, or a fiery place of torment, but the Holy Bible clearly illustrates that those who do evil, and wickedness, and are not written in the book of life shall be cast in the lake of fire, where their soul will be burned and tormented for all eternity.

The Devil who polluted all of man is certainly going there.

Revelation 20:10
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Revelation 20:11-15
¶ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

The Devil and the wicked will end up in the lake of fire in the wrath of God, but you don’t have to; for God in his infinite Love, his rich Mercy and abundant Grace is calling to the world to be saved in his Son Jesus the Christ to believe in his work on the cross when Jesus paid with his life for our sins and removed all of our sins before God.

There’s no number of good deeds, or works, that you can do to justify yourself before God to save your soul from the wrath we deserved.

Ephesians 2:4-8
¶ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Jesus did the work of salvation on his cross. He gave his life willingly so that you could be set free from sin, free from the damnation of the wrath of Almighty God.

1st Corinthians 15:55-57
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

We have victory over death, sin, and the Devil in Christ Jesus!

Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

All that God is asking is your faith in him and his Son Jesus, that you believe the testimony of Jesus’ death and his Resurrection to Life everlasting.

John 3:16-21
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Heavenly Father hallowed be thy name, we know that we were worthy of death and your wrath, so we thank you for sending you own Son to be a substitute to save us from destruction. We praise your holy and righteous name for your gracious love and everlasting mercy for thinking of us, to save our souls.

Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

I pray that the person reading this page might be pricked to the heart to in true faith believe in the work of your Son Jesus who gave his life for the sins of the world.

In the saving name of Jesus, I pray and give thanks.

Do you believe in the testimony of Jesus and his work on the cross?

Do you know Jesus?

He died for your sins!

May God bless you this day with his Holy Spirit.
