How you can know for sure you are going to heaven?

Has anyone ever shown you from the Holy Bible how you can know for sure you are going to heaven?

The Holy Bible contains bad news and good news.

The Bad News is something about YOU.

The Good News is something about GOD.

First the Bad News:

We are all sinners.

Romans 3:23 says,

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

“Sinned” means that we have missed the mark.

For example, when we lie, hate, lust, cheat, break promises, gossip, or if we worship other idols or gods etc. we have missed the holy standard God has set. For God is a holy God.

Suppose you and I each threw a rock, trying to hit the North Pole. You might throw farther than I do, but neither of us would hit the goal. In the same way we fall short of God’s standard of perfection and holiness.

In thoughts, words, and actions, we do not even come close.

But the bad news gets worse…

The penalty for sin is death.

Romans 6:23 says,

“For the wages of sin is death.”

If we are hired to do a job, we get paid for doing that job. That money is our wages. This is what we have earned.

The Holy Bible says that by sinning against God we have earned death.

That means we deserve to die and be separated from God forever, facing the just judgment of God and the wrath of God in eternal torment of hell fire.

Now the Good News...

God made a way for us to live and be with him forever.

You see, JESUS Christ died for YOU.

Romans 5:8 says,

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

To better understand exactly what Christ did, think about this.

Suppose you were in a hospital dying of cancer, and I came to you and said, “Let’s take the cancer cells out of your body and put them into my body.”

If that were possible, what would happen to me?

What would happen to you?

I would die and you would live.

I would die in your place.

The Holy Bible says Christ took the penalty that we deserved for sin, and the wrath God had for us that we deserved for our sins and placed it on Himself, and died in our place. Three days later from his death on the cross, Christ came back to life to prove that sin and death had been conquered and that His claims to be God were true.

Just as the bad news got worse, the good news gets better!

YOU can be saved through faith in Christ JESUS.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says,

“For by grace [God’s grace is undeserved favor] you have been saved [delivered from sin’s penalty] through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

The Bible says of faith,

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Faith means trust.

You must depend on JESUS alone to forgive you and give you eternal life.

Just as you trust a chair to hold you through no effort of your own, so you must trust JESUS Christ to get you to heaven through no effort of your own.

But you might say. “I’m religious,” “I go to church,” “I am a good person,” “I help the poor.” “I don’t do anything that really bad.”

These are all well and good, but good living, going to church, helping the poor, or any other good thing you might do cannot get you into heaven.

YOU MUST TRUST in JESUS Christ ALONE, and believe in his saving work on the cross, and God will give you eternal life as a gift.

Think carefully. Is there really anything more important than your need to trust JESUS?

Would you like to tell God you are trusting JESUS Christ as your Savior today?

If you would, why not pray right now and tell God you are trusting His Son?

It is very important to understand that it is not a prayer that saves you.

Prayer is simply how you tell God what you are doing.

Dear God, Holy God,
I know I am a sinner. I am so sorry for all my sins. I now repent of all my sins before you, I know my sin deserves to be punished. I believe Christ atoned for my sins and died for me and he rose from the grave. I trust JESUS Christ alone as my Savior and my Redeemer. Thank you for your love, mercy, grace, and the forgiveness of my sins and for everlasting life I now have through faith in your Son.
In JESUS’ name, Amen.

The gospel of John says,

John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

If you truly prayed this prayer to God, in truth, what is next?

To help you, you can start by reading this article.

You should next seek to be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of your sins.

To do this, you should find a good Bible based church where you will have fellowship with other believers of JESUS.

Read the Holy Bible and join a Bible study to start reading learning what the Holy Bible says.

Do you know Jesus?

He died for your sins.

There is salvation in his saving, powerful, name.

Are you covered by the blood of Jesus, the blood of the lamb?

Did you repent of your sins?

Will you be baptized?

May God bless you this day with his Holy Spirit.
